If you struggle to organise your ideas or find yourself going off-topic, if you take a lot of time to write an article, or at least to frame the idea then the outline is for you.

An outline acts as a framework. It helps you organise your thoughts logically before you start writing.

It also saves you time and keeps you from straying off-topic and readers know popular outlines so they naturally connect with them.

Outlines are the reason I’m publishing so much content in a single week in an hour a day.

Part 1: The Most Popular Article Outlines

1. The "How To" Outline

This structure works for actionable content. It’s ideal for teaching readers a process or solving a specific problem; You act as the teacher, and people love that, they love being led by someone who solves their most painful problems.

Structure:

1. Hook: Start with a question or a bold statement that grabs attention (e.g., “Want to write faster without sacrificing quality?”).

2. Problem: Describe the issue readers face and why it matters.

3. Steps: Break down actionable steps in a clear, logical order.

4. Conclusion: Recap the benefits and encourage readers to take action.

Example Article :

  • How to Write a Captivating Article in Under an Hour*

  • Hook: "Struggling to write an article that holds attention? You're not alone."

  • Problem: "Many writers spend hours, even days, drafting articles that never feel finished."

  • Body (Develop each step, why, how etc…) :

    • Step 1: Start with a headline that hooks.

    • Step 2: Use an outline (like this one!) to speed up.

    • Step 3: Edit quickly using templates, or software like Grammarly

  • Conclusion: Summarize the process and encourage readers to start now.

2. The "Listicle" Outline

The objective is to deliver information in bite-sized pieces. Listicles are among the most shared article types, you see them everywhere. The biggest advantage is that you don’t have to write a smooth transition between your points, so these articles are fast to write when you don’t have much time.
